AI-Powered Lead Time Optimisation Boosts Supply Chain Efficiency
Tegistics is a UK and Europe-based consultancy specialising in Oracle Supply Chain Management and manufacturing. Through its Integistics initiative, the company leverages AI-driven automation to streamline processes, improve procurement efficiency, and provide actionable insights for data-driven decision-making.
The Challenge
Managing lead times in Oracle SCM has traditionally relied on static, manually maintained values. While this approach provides a baseline for planning, it can quickly become misaligned with real-world supplier performance. Updating and recalibrating these lead times requires significant manual effort, limiting the ability to capture changes across the supply chain.Tegistics identified an opportunity to improve this process by exploring the use of AI models to automate lead time calculations, generate more accurate and timely supplier performance insights, and create the foundation for a scalable SaaS solution. This forward-looking approach aims to reduce manual workload, improve efficiency, and enable more strategic, data-driven procurement decisions.
The Solution
Tegistics tested AI-driven optimisation using a sample Oracle SCM procurement dataset, following a three-step approach. First, data engineering recalculated lead times in business days and incorporated additional operational features such as late days, SLA breaches, and temporal attributes. Next, predictive regression models—including Linear, Polynomial, Random Forest, and XGBoost—were developed to estimate total lead times. While predictive modelling was constrained by available features, it highlighted key performance drivers and predictive gaps. Finally, an interactive Supplier Performance Dashboard was built using Plotly Dash, providing procurement teams with a consolidated view of recalculated vs. original lead times, supplier reliability and variability, order urgency, and volumes. The solution automates lead time management, improves visibility, and lays a foundation for future AI-powered SaaS integration.
Federico Roa, Tegistics Consulting
“The Hartree NI Hub team provided invaluable guidance throughout the project — from refining the problem statement to structuring the data pipeline and validating the predictive models. Their collaborative approach and technical expertise helped us transform an exploratory idea into a working proof of concept. The regular feedback sessions and access to advanced computing resources significantly accelerated development and ensured the results aligned with real-world Oracle SCM use cases.”
Project Impact
The AI-driven solution has delivered tangible operational benefits for Tegistics and its clients. By automating lead time recalculations, manual effort and potential errors have been significantly reduced. The Supplier Performance Dashboard provides enhanced visibility into supplier behaviour, enabling teams to identify chronic delays, track reliability scores, and monitor variability across multiple dimensions. Procurement efficiency has improved, reducing stockouts and excess inventory while supporting strategic decision-making. Additionally, the insights gained and the interactive dashboard create a strong foundation for future SaaS deployment, embedding AI-driven recommendations directly into Oracle SCM. Overall, Tegistics has successfully demonstrated how AI can enhance supply chain processes, offering both immediate operational improvements and long-term strategic potential for clients across the UK and Europe.
