AI Tool Helps Streamline Court Venue Lookups, Saving Time and Reducing Risk

Brady Solicitors is a Northern Ireland–based legal practice led by sole practitioner Angela Brady, specialising in civil litigation. The firm faced a recurring challenge: manually identifying the correct County Court venue, a process that consumed valuable time and slowed day-to-day casework.

The Challenge

The manual process required checking a defendant’s address against multiple online sources to determine the relevant District Electoral Area, County Court Division, and Court Office. This repetitive task was time-consuming, prone to errors, and diverted focus from core legal work, reducing overall efficiency in case preparation.

The Solution

Working with the Hartree Centre Northern Ireland Hub, a custom tool was developed using Google Gemini to automate and streamline this task. By entering a defendant’s address into a single prompt, the tool now instantly retrieves the appropriate District Electoral Area, County Court division, and court office address eliminating the need for manual research. A follow-up session was held to demonstrate the tool in a live environment, and a supporting guide was provided to ensure the firm can use and adapt the tool independently. The solution provides a scalable template that could be adapted to other repetitive administrative processes in the future.

Project Impact

The custom Gemini-based tool has removed the need for time-consuming, manual research when determining the correct County Court venue. This has led to a noticeable improvement in day-to-day efficiency, freeing up time that would otherwise be spent navigating multiple websites. The risk of administrative error has also been reduced, helping to ensure court documentation is accurate and submitted to the appropriate jurisdiction. The tool is simple to use, fully documented, and can now be used independently, offering a practical solution that fits seamlessly into existing workflows. Beyond the immediate benefits, the project has also opened interest in how similar AI-driven tools might support other repetitive legal tasks. It demonstrates how legal practices can take practical steps towards digital innovation, without needing deep technical expertise or large-scale infrastructure.
